Guide To Getting Proper Orthopaedic Consultation in Kolkata for Fracture Cases
I have seen some of the most complicated and dangerous fracture cases in the past 10+ years. Thus, I always recommend getting fracture treatment as early as possible to prevent serious complications.
The first 24 hours are essential for the proper treatment of any fracture.

What Is a Fracture?
A fracture happens when a bone breaks partially or completely due to factors like high-force injury, extreme stress, or medical conditions. It causes severe pain, trauma, and swelling and significantly reduces mobility.
Signs You May Have a Fracture?
If you have a fracture, you can have the following:
- Severe pain and swelling in an injury area.
- Deformity in the affected area.
- Difficulty in moving your limbs/body parts.
- Bone is openly visible (open fracture)
Follow These Steps in The First 24 Hours
Try to get a proper orthopaedic consultation for a fracture as soon as possible and take care of these things.
- Make sure to make no movement in the injured area.
- Call emergency services if you can’t move at all.
- Check if you are bleeding. If ‘yes’, control it immediately.
- Use a solid stick to make a splint and use it to immobilize the affected area.
- Use a padding when tying the splint to reduce pressure on the injury.
- Use RICE: Rest-Ice-Compression-Elevation.
- Get medical help in the first 24 hours.
When To Get Emergency Help from an Orthopaedic Doctor?
Immediately seek emergency help from a professional doctor if:
- Bone is visible openly
- The injured area is blue, cold, or numb
- Out-of-control heavy bleeding.
- Suffering from extreme shock and trauma
- Limb is bent/deformed.
Why Doctor’s Assistance Matters?
Fractures are serious injuries that can potentially affect your entire life. Without a professional doctor’s assistance, your bones may heal improperly.
Many cases also lead to serious infections and internal bleeding. You can face lifelong mobility issues without proper treatment.
